KC’s 2024 Toyota Tacoma: A Clean Slate with Purpose
KC’s 2024 Toyota Tacoma: A Clean Slate with Purpose
This 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road is one of KC’s in-house development rigs. It serves as both a real-world testing platform and a direct connection to one of the most important segments in our community: Tacoma owners. Built on the all-new generation, this truck helps us stay ahead of the curve and ensures that everything we develop, including mounts, lighting layouts, and wiring solutions, feels intuitive and works seamlessly on the trucks people are driving now.
Our Tacoma was built clean and functional. 35s, mid-travel suspension, a dialed-in lighting package, and no fluff or overbuilding. A truck that is comfortable carrying surfboards over to the beach, as it is on a multi-day overlanding trip. Just a practical approach with the lighting and suspension essentials needed to navigate the trail and support content creation.
Why build a 4th Gen Tacoma for Overlanding?
Few platforms are as iconic in the off-road space as the Toyota Tacoma. With the launch of the all-new 2024 version, we knew we needed to get our hands on one early, not just for product development, but to build something that reflects a different side of adventure.
Unlike our heavier-duty builds, this Tacoma was envisioned as a minimalist, practical rig. It’s perfect for beach runs, mountain escapes, or weekend wheeling trips. Surfboards tossed in the bed, gear packed in simple cases, a water tank to rinse off after a surf session, and just enough lighting and suspension upgrades to make off-road access easy without sacrificing daily drivability.
It also serves an important role for KC's future development: owning a 2024 Tacoma lets us stay ahead of platform changes, refine new mounting solutions, and form real-world opinions on how best to outfit the new 4th-gen Tacoma, ensuring we continue building products that are actually useful.
With its approachable build style, this Tacoma captures the spirit of “Adventure Day Carry” and helps KC better serve the next generation of explorers who want to go from weekday errands to weekend surf trips without switching vehicles.
